KSAMIL
Ksamil is a village and a former municipality in the riviera of Southern Albania, and part of Butrint National Park. Ksamil is primarily known for its fine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.
Ksamil is one of the most frequented coastal resorts by both domestic and foreign tourists. Ksamil Beach and Albania's Ionian Coast further north was included in the Guardian's 20 of the best bargain beach holidays for 2013. In the village lives about 4000-5000 people and tourism is increasing every passing year. However, there are still plenty of secluded places left if you are looking for peace and quiet on your holiday. The village has also retained the charm to some extent, and there are plenty of cozy little restaurants serving Albanian cuisine. |
KSAMIL ISLANDS
The Ksamil Islands, consist of four rocky islands located in the direct proximity to the Ionian Sea, 5 minutes away from our apartments with car. There are 4 small islands, two of them are within swimming distance and are very close. The other two “twin-islands” are a little further out and normally require a jet ski, paddle boat or normal taxi-boat to be reached. The benefit of going to the further away islands is that you’ll likely have them to yourselves and avoid the crowds. There are a number of small cafés and restaurants on the Twin Islands too which offer good food, drinks and service.
BUTRINT NATIONAL PARK
The archaeological heritage of Butrint is one of the most important archaeological sites in Albania, containing different artefacts and structures, dating from the Bronze Age up until the Middle Ages.
It is an ancient city in well-preserved ruins that are on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. In Butrint, one can look at an old amphitheater, monastery, watchtowers and a fort. Butrint is about 20 minutes away by bus Ksamil or 10 minutes by car. For those who feel hearty, you can also stroll along the olive groves – A walk that takes about 1 hour.
Lake Butrint is an important Bird and Plant Area, because it supports various bird and plant species of international importance.

BLUE EYE
A beautiful natural phenomenon which is about 50 minutes drive from Ksamil. Syri I Kalter is also known as the blue eye and here await crystal clear waters in turquoise and green.
What characterizes the site and that gave rise to the name, however, is that part of the lake where the bubbles from the water create a dark blue color. This contrast makes it look like an eye, and hence the name “the blue eye.”
The clear blue water of the river bubbles forth from a stunning, more than fifty-metre-deep pool. Divers have descended to fifty metres, but it is still unclear what the actual depth of the karst hole is.
